What's Your Brain Type?
Jul 18, 2023
Did you know that there are 16 different brain types? I didn't until I started working with Dr. Daniel Amen.
What I also learned from Dr. Amen is that you are not stuck with the brain that you have. There are specific things that you can do to improve it.
Here are three of those brain types, the action plan for improving each brain type, as well as the dietary recommendations and supplements for each brain type.
The Persistent Brain Type - the Persistent brain type has a higher anterior cingulate and lower serotonin. This brain type is busy, relentless, strong willed, like things a certain way and no surprises. A Persistent brain gets stuck on thoughts, holds on to hurts, and tends to see what's wrong.
A Persistent brain needs a higher complex carbohydrate, lower protein diet. This nutritional approach will help boost serotonin levels naturally.
Supplements include a good multi-vitamin, fish oil, and a supplement that helps support serotonin levels and a positive mood.
The Sensitive Brain Type - the Sensitive brain type has deep feelings, they are empathetic, struggle with moods, are more pessimistic, and struggle with negative thoughts. The Sensitive brain has higher limbic activity and lower dopamine.
A Sensitive brain needs a diet that is balanced in high-quality proteins and complex carbohydrates. This type of diet will help balance blood sugar, help with focus and provide the necessary building blocks for brain health.
Supplements include a good multi-vitamin, fish oil, and a potent mood supplement that helps to improve mood, cope with anxious feelings, and enhance focus while under mental strain.
The Cautious Brain Type - the Cautious brain type can be anxious, prepared, motivated, have a busy mind and predict the worst. The Cautious brain has higher basal ganglia and lower GABA.
A Cautious brain needs a diet that is balanced in high-quality proteins and complex carbohydrates. This type of diet will help balance blood sugar, help with focus, and provide the necessary building blocks for brain health.
Supplements include a good multi-vitamin, fish oil, and a supplement to help support healthy GABA, neurotransmitter levels and a sense of inner peace.
Understanding your specific brain type can help you understand what you can do to improve your brain, which in turn will improve your overall health.
