Diet and Lifestyle Tips for Gut Health

Gut health is so important and really is the key to being healthy.

Candida is a yeast that can occur anywhere in the body, and in the proper amount, it's a healthy part of the body's system; it becomes problematic when it grows out of control.

Common candida overgrowth triggers include the following:

Birth Control Pills - birth control can wipe out good bacteria, allowing candida to flourish

Heavy Metal Toxicity  and Chemical Exposure - chemical and toxins (e.g., mercury, lead, arsenic, and chromium) have carcinogenic effects and lead to organ damage.

Candida overgrowth has many symptoms like fatigue, irritability or mood swings and skin issues, such as hives, eczema & rashes.

There are many dietary and lifestyle changes that you can make to help maintain a healthy balance of candida. In general, it's important to eat the right foods and avoid sugar, any food intolerances, and antibiotics, and hormone therapy unless necessary.

If you suffer from candida overgrowth, some additional changes might include:

Remove yeast from the diet - common yeast or mold containing foods include alcohol, bread, cheese, dried fruit, kombucha, some nuts & seeds

Eliminate sugar - avoid sugary fruit and eat only low-sugar whole fruits, like lemons, limes and cranberries, until symptoms are gone

Incorporate herbs - garlic, grapefruit seed extract, lemon balm & tea tree oil are all good herbs that help with a candida cleanse

Try an anti-candida diet - an anti-candida diet can help balance the microbiome and optimize digestion.

There are tests that are useful in helping to determine if you have an overgrowth of candida in the body. I can help you identify those tests and help you move in the direction of having a healthy gut.
