Healthy Daily Detox
Jul 26, 2022
Detoxification is the body's process of changing fat-soluble toxins (including heavy metals, pesticides, and medications) into water-soluble compounds that can be eliminated from the body.
Detoxification happens primarily in the liver, but also occurs in other areas of the body, including the gut, skin, and lungs.
Poor detoxification can occur when the body is overburdened with toxin exposures, the health of the gut microbiome is compromised, or key nutrients that support detoxification (such as magnesium) are missing from the diet.
Below are suggestions and tips for food and lifestyle choices that can enhance the body's natural detoxification process.
Your morning routine:
- Choose toxin-free personal care products, or make your own using coconut oil or beeswax
- Start the day with hydration - have a cup of warm water with lemon or caffeine herbal or mushroom tea. Be sure to drink filtered water and stay away from plastic containers.
- Choose breakfast foods high in fiber, such as oatmeal, whole grains & fruit
Your afternoon routine:
- Reduce pesticides by choosing fruits & vegetables that are organic
- If eating seafood for lunch, choose fish that is low in mercury (including cod, salmon & trout)
- Brainstorm adding mental breaks throughout the day. Some ideas include deep breathing, taking a walk, or simply seeking out a change in scenery during a stressful situation.
Your evening routine:
- Limit alcohol intake to one drink per day. One drink is equivalent to 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of spirit or liquor. Instead of alcohol, choose drinks such as kombucha or sparkling water with lime or bitters.
- Choose dinner foods that aid in the detoxification process. Some of these foods include the following:
- Alliums - Chives, garlic, leeks, onions
- Amino acids - Eggs, fish, meat
- Cruciferous vegetables - Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, watercress
- Magnesium - Avocado, dates, figs, leafy greens
- Zinc - Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds
Bedtime routine:
- Reduce exposure to electronics in the evening
- Lower daily caffeine intake so it doesn't affect sleep
- Get adequate sleep - 7-8 hours per night is recommended
There you have it, a full days worth of routines to cut down or eliminate toxins that help to improve gut health.

As a Functional Diagnostic Nutritional Practitioner, I run functional lab work to help identify HIDDEN stressors and dysfunctions that are downgrading health and creating or contributing toĀ Metabolic Chaosā„¢, which describes what's going on inside that is producing unwanted symptoms.
Once healing opportunities are identified through carefully selected labs and a thorough history, only then can individualized, time-honored natural protocols be recommended that will change how well the body functions. When improvements are made, true healing occurs.
I am opening up 5 coaching opportunities at the end of August, at the lowest cost possible.
I don't want you to miss this healing opportunity.
